Thank You

Thank you to my friends in Cumberland, North Yarmouth, Chebeague and Long Islands for their support and keeping me energized during my 2012 campaign for the Maine House of Representatives. I am fortunate for the new relationships I've gained over the year and proud of the campaign to represent a region and state I love.

I said at the campaign's kickoff in January that I would run a race based on ideas and not on political ideology. The ideas live on after the election and I'll continue to work through the efforts of this Website and through TechMaine to promote economic opportunities for Maine residents and businesses.

My campaign was a group effort and so are the tasks that face us as we work together to build a strong Maine economy. Be vigilant; join me in promoting ideas over political ideology.

Can you pass a U.S. Citizenship Exam?

To receive U.S. citizenship a candidate must pass a civics test. Candidates are asked questions about the U.S. system of government and history to confirm they have a basic understanding of these subjects. The 25 questions in this quiz are from the Bureau of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and are typical citizenship examination questions. All correct answers are exactly as worded by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

It was an intersting first-time run for political office. While trying to understand "political science" -  I've found basic science theories that are easily proven and unproven during a run for office.

If a picture is worth a thousand words...then a video clip is worth an entire blog post...

Yet again, we become aware of details in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) AFTER it has been passed.
According to the ACA, states would access Federal data called "modified-adjusted gross income" (MAGI) in order to determine an individual’s eligibility for public insurance or tax subsidies from the government. Many states that have created Health Exchanges found that the only way to make the program sustainable (i.e. receive the maximum amount of Federal assistance) was to bundle the Exchanges with all of their state's human services programs.

The owner of a Sabattus ice cream shop says his dreams of opening another store in nearby Manchester could have melted away if he hadn't picked up the phone and called the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Red Tape Hotline.

I didn't enter the campaign to debate problems; I decided to run because I have a history of bringing bi-partisan solutions to Augusta. I believe you want and should hear solutions, not an affirmation of problems, or yet another legislative study; and that is what this message is all about.
